The Flickering Light
In our bathroom, there is a set of four lights by the sink area. One day, I noticed one of the lights flickering and it suddenly went out. After a few minutes, it came back on again. It kept repeating this pattern but every time that particular light went out, the brightness in the bathroom reduced, which made a significant difference, especially when I was putting on my makeup. As I laughed and pondered at this occurrence, the Holy spirit began teaching me the importance of the light we, as children of God, carry. Matthew 5:14-16 Amplified says,
“You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
We are reminded that we are the light of Christ to the world. Light is not to be hidden but instead shine bright. There is no timidity with light, as it radiates for all to see, knowing it is needed and valued in a space. Without light in a room, it would be challenging for an individual to know the path to take or identify where things are located. It is no wonder that the first thing God spoke into existence in the beginning of creation was “Let there be light” (Gen 1:3). Likewise, God has placed us as light in our different spheres of influence. We are there in providing direction, clarifying and ultimately pointing others to Christ because of the good deeds they see in our lives. There is something of value in each of us and the world needs to see it. Hence, we need to radiate with joy, knowing there is something in each of us that the world needs. So when the voice of doubt or fear comes, tell it to “shut up” and instead, take bold steps and run with the vision God has set before you this year 2020.
You never know the life you are touching by running with the vision God has placed in your heart. I have observed that this life is so interconnected. Multiple lives are connected with so many. In Genesis 40, Joseph did not allow his situation to prevent him from adding value in the life of the chief butler. He had the gift of interpreting dreams and little did he know that would be the very same thing that would lead him to the palace and eventually provide an avenue in preserving the lives of his family. Every time we decide to shine our light, we make the world a lot brighter. Do not be like the flickering light in my bathroom, that comes on and off. Let that light in you consistently shine brighter and brighter, for all to see and give glory to your Father in heaven.
In Proverbs 4:18, the path of the righteous is promised to be like the shining sun that shines brighter and brighter unto the perfect day but this is a promise only to the righteous. Our righteousness only comes from Jesus Christ and to activate such great deal of continuous brightness, you need to first accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. If you would like to make that decision today, please say this prayer with me:
“Lord Jesus Christ, I believe you are the Son of God and I believe You died for me on the cross of Calvary. I know I am a sinner and today, I come to You to forgive me of all my sins and to make me a brand new creation. I accept You as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord for forgiving me and making me born again, in Jesus name, Amen.”
Congratulations!!!! You are now born-again! This means you share the same DNA as Jesus Christ and all because of you, there is a great celebration in heaven right now!
If you made this decision, I would love to hear from you today! Please leave a comment on this post or reach out to me at https://www.cccghq.org/contact/
