Carved in God's DNA

The disciples were first called “Christians” in Antioch (Acts 11:26) because they were “Christ-like”, so from this we can deduce that:

Christians = Christ-like people.

Unfortunately, when we say we are “Christians” or “Christ-like”, we sometimes limit it to just our character but it goes beyond that. Romans 8:29 reveals God’s original plan for our lives, right from the beginning of creation. Let’s see what Romans 8:29 says in The Passion Translation (TPT):

“29 For he knew all about us before we were born and he destined us from the beginning to share the likeness of his Son. This means the Son is the oldest among a vast family of brothers and sisters who will become just like him.”

First of all, it says before we were born, God already knew us and in advance, carved us in the likeness of His Son, Jesus Christ. Genesis 2:26 also confirms this truth when it mentioned that we are made in the image and likeness of God (God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit). Remember that in the mouth of two or three witnesses, the truth is confirmed.This is such a mind boggling truth as it reveals our true identity in Christ. Halleluyah!! Romans 8:29 further expands on what that means by saying “This means the Son is the oldest among a vast family or brothers and sister who will become just like Him”.

What does this mean for us? We have the same DNA as Jesus Christ!!!

Hence, we share the same characteristics of Christ in EVERYTHING!! From our character, values, mindset, exploits etc. It is no wonder that Jesus Christ said in John 14:12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.” (NLT). The same exploits Jesus Christ did, we as christians are meant to do the same and even greater exploits. He was not limited by anything and walked in the consciousness of that. Regardless of His age, He did not allow that limit Him but instead operated in such mind blowing wisdom. I’m intrigued by the story of Jesus at age 12 when He and His earthly family went up to Jerusalem for the Passover Festival and He stayed behind before He was found after three days (Luke 2:41-52). He did not have a panic attack or cry himself to sleep, instead He was found in the temple with the teachers, listening and asking questions. Everyone who heard Him were astonished by His level of understanding and His answers. From this, we see Him operating in peace (not worried), confidence (being able to question the teachers), humility (listening to the teachers in the temple), submission to authority (He subjected Himself to His parents when they found Him- Luke 2: 51). He then increased in wisdom, stature, and obtained favor before God and men (Luke 2:52).

So, when you are faced with a challenge, ask yourself, what would Jesus do? How would He respond to that situation? Would He be scared, overwhelmed or at peace? In Mark 4:35-40, when Jesus was in the boat with His disciples, He was sleeping on a pillow while the winds were beating against the boat. Wow, He was truly at peace that He could sleep on a ‘pillow’. The disciples were so scared they were going to drown and hurriedly woke Jesus up but He did not jump out of His sleep with a panic attack nor with His heart beating faster than normal in fear. He simply stood up (should I include with authority), rebuked the wind and spoke to the sea “peace be still” (Mark 4:39 NKJV). This is truly a good depiction of “Calm, Cool, Collected”

Whatever you cannot imagine happening to Jesus Christ, then never imagine it happening to you. Why? Because you share the same DNA as Jesus Christ!!!

You can be transfused into the company that has the DNA of Jesus Christ by simply deciding today to accept Him as your Lord and personal savior. He is so excited to start that walk with you by simply saying this prayer:

“Lord Jesus Christ, I believe you are the Son of God and I believe You died for me on the cross of Calvary. I know I am a sinner and today, I come to You to forgive me of all my sins and to make me a brand new creation. I accept You as my personal Lord and Saviour. Thank you Lord for forgiving me and making me born again, in Jesus name, Amen.”

Congratulations!!!! You are now born-again! This means you share the same DNA as Jesus Christ and all because of you, there is a great celebration in heaven right now!

If you made this decision, I would love to hear from you today! Please leave a comment on this post or reach out to me at https://www.cccghq.org/contact/
