Signal Jammers

I needed to make a payment online and noticed it wasn’t going through after several attempts with my card. I decided to try using my husband’s card and on the first try, it went through. I initially thought the issue was with the site I was on but when it went through with my husband’s card, I knew something was wrong with my card. He advised me to call the bank and when I did, to my surprise, a block had been put on my card for over a month and I did not even notice it. It was very surprising to me because I had just used this card a few days back for an in-store purchase but did not realize that a block existed on this card, limiting any online purchases. The block was put on my behalf in order to prevent me from being a victim of fraudulent activities online but as a result of not being aware of this, there was a restriction on what I purchased online. As I pondered on this incident, the Holy Spirit began to show me the correlation between this incident and the existence of signal jammers in a home.

Signal jammers are devices and software utilized in blocking the flow of information from a device or place. Take for example a mobile phone jammer or blocker, this device will deliberately transmit signals on the same radio frequency as the mobile phone it wants to jam, thereby interfering and disrupting any communication between that cell phone and the cell’s tower or base station, thereby successfully disabling that cell phone or any cell phones within the range of that jammer and effectively preventing such phones from receiving any signals and transmitting any signals from them. Likewise, in a home, there are some signal jammers that we need to ensure are not allowed access into our home, as this can interrupt us from receiving signals from God. Let’s examine some signal jammers and how they can affect the destiny of a home or people in a home.

Examples of Signal Jammers

1. Association: The People in Our Circle

Lot was an association that Abraham kept and acted as his signal jammer. Abraham was not able to hear clearly from God, despite building altars to honor God and praying. Before he left his father’s house and his country, Abraham heard from God, who gave him the instruction to depart and the next time he heard from God was when God was confirming the land He promised to show him upon his arrival. Afterward, God’s voice was very silent to Abraham until Lot separated from Abraham. Once that separation took place, God began to speak to Abraham once more. This disruption in Abraham’s communication with God was super costly because He took wrong steps when he went to Egypt, which almost cost him his wife but not only that, he was about to hand over the promise God made to him and his descendants (Canaan) into the hands of Lot by his own hands, which would have been a huge mistake. Remember Esau gave away his own birthright to Jacob and when he sought after it with tears, he could not get it back. This could have been the story of Abraham, all because he had Lot follow him, even though God instructed him to leave his father’s house, his country, and his relatives.

“Now [in Haran] the Lord had said to Abram, “Go away from your country, And from your relatives, And from your father’s house, To the land which I will show you “ (Genesis 12:1, Amplified)

All these missteps could have easily been corrected if there was no interference in the signals he was getting from God. He was no longer getting clear directions from God and what is interesting about this is that Abraham was not aware that there was an issue with this at all. If not for the strife with the herdsmen (a blessing in disguise), the separation between him and Lot would not have happened. Sometimes, God allows some bonds to wither in some friendships or associations that are interfering in God speaking to us. Ask yourself, is there a friend or person that after they leave your home, tension, strife, and/or confusion begins. Such a person might be a signal jammer in your home.

As a wife or husband, ask yourself, am I a signal jammer to my spouse? I am blocking them from receiving from God or following God’s instruction. As a wife, ask yourself, am I creating a peaceful and conducive atmosphere in my home, void of strife, to ensure that my husband can clearly hear from God concerning the direction for the family. As a husband, ask yourself, am I encouraging my wife to associate with the word of God and the things of God, or have I created a stressful environment that restricts her from adequately walking in the ways of God. As parents, are we encouraging our children to do the works of God or are we becoming a roadblock in them enjoying and fulfilling the destinies that God has set for them? Parents, it is not wise to punish your children by not allowing them to attend godly activities e.g choir practice, youth day at CCCG etc. You are sending a signal to them that those godly activities are not worthwhile, which is wrong.

It is high time we are sensitive to what kind of company we are keeping around us, as this is very crucial to the success and fulfillment of our destinies.

2. Association: The Contents We Expose Our Heart To

Association is not just limited by the people we have around us but what also has access to our heart and spirit. Some of such associations include what we read, what we watch on tv or online, the music we listen to, etc. Porn, whether watched on tv/online, read in books with descriptive sexualized content, or listened to in sexualized songs,  opens the door for sexual immorality to gain access into a person’s life. When the spirit of sexual immorality is given access, it becomes a signal jammer for God to speak to a person and that is very costly. It has the power to affect different aspects of a person’s life including their family, children, marriage, and their walk with God. Many kids are exposed to sexual content because of an adult that was interacting with such content. As a single, being exposed to such content creates a false expectation from your future spouse as a result of the seed sown through such interactions with those sexual contents. It becomes a stronghold that needs to be dwelt with, all because there was an exposure to such a signal jammer.

3. Jealousy

“For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.” (James 3:16, New Living Translation)

Jealousy suffocates the presence of God in a place or a person’s life and since nature does not like vacuum, it introduces all kinds of evil. The root of jealousy is a lack of contentment. There is little or no contentment for who God has created them to be, for what God has given to them and as a result of that, it creates a mirage of inadequacy and introduces the lie that if they can only be like this other person or have what that other person has, everything will be okay, but that is a lie from the pit of hell. Jealousy never brings any solution or satisfaction but only causes trouble. When jealousy is not dealt with, it opens the door to offense. This was what happened when Saul became jealous of David and all of a sudden, evil desires welled up on the inside of Saul and he became offended with David and sought to kill him.

4. Offence

There is a reason why scriptures say in Matthew 7:5 to:

“First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.” (New Living Translation)

This is because the eye of the spirit helps us in discerning properly and accurately. Eyes that have cataracts on them are defective eyes and would always distort any image it sees. Offense is any example of a spiritual cataract that distorts the image a person sees. When a person allows offense into their lives, it clouds a person’s heart and limits the signals they get from God. This is because offense chokes the presence of God in a place or person. It also distorts any spiritual signals they get. For example, if they are in the prophetic or getting any prophecy about the one they are offended with, such prophecy cannot be trusted as it is possibly contaminated because of the state of their heart. John, the Baptist was offended by Jesus for not rescuing him from jail, and even though he was the forerunner of Christ, while in the state of being offended, he sent his disciples asking if Jesus is the one (Messiah) they have been waiting for or if they should look for another (Matthew 11:3).

It is challenging for light a.k.a revelation to flood in when the heart is clouded and offense is a big culprit that blocks the flow of revelation in the life of a believer. Get rid of offense and live a life filled with revelation from God.

“22 “The eye is the lamp of the body; so if your eye is clear [spiritually perceptive], your whole body will be full of light [benefiting from God’s precepts]. 23 But if your eye is bad [spiritually blind], your whole body will be full of darkness [devoid of God’s precepts]. So if the [very] light inside you [your inner self, your heart, your conscience] is darkness, how great and terrible is that darkness!” (Matthew 6:22-23, Amplified)

The Cost of Signal Jammers

1. Limited or Restricted Directions from God

In Genesis 12, after God gave Abraham the direction to depart from his country, his relatives (mind you, Lot was a relative as well), and his father’s house to the land God will show him (Genesis 12:1), the only time God spoke to Abraham was in Genesis 12:7 when they arrived at Canaan and God appeared to him and said: “I will give this land to your descendants” (Genesis 12:7, AMP). Afterward, we do not hear any other time that God spoke to Abraham until Genesis 13:14 when Lot separated from him. It’s interesting that in Genesis 13:3-4, when Abraham returned to where he first built an altar to the Lord at the beginning when he called on the name of the Lord in prayer, there was no response recorded from God. The fact that a person is getting some signals here and there, does not mean a jammer is not present, which is restricting the full flow of the signals God is sending our way. Similar to how I could still make in-store purchases with my card that had a block on it but was not able to do online purchases, it is the same when a jammer exists in the life of a believer. God may be speaking but they are unable to clearly hear Him or the directions or instructions He is giving. As believers, we need light in showing us the way forward but if a person is spiritually blind, there would be repercussions. We are reminded of this truth in Matt 6:22-23

It is no joke having the presence of a signal jammer or blocker in our lives or homes. It’s costly!

2. Introduction of Fear

When there was a famine in the land, Abraham decided to go down to Egypt, without consulting God and as they approached, he asked Sarah to say she was his sister (and not wife) because of how beautiful she was and he was afraid they would kill him to get her. He was so afraid of losing his life, that he did not mind giving away his own wife to become Pharaoh’s wife. Fear was introduced into his life because he still had a signal jammer in his life, and as such, he was not able to discern that his decision from the beginning was flawed. If God was speaking to him, he was not getting the signals or promptings from God, all because he had the presence of a jammer in his life, which was Lot. He would have lost Sarah, his wife who God had ordained to bring forth great nations from his loins. Do you know that the great nation of Israel would have not been born if Sarah remained as a wife to Pharaoh! Thank God for the mercies of God, in making Pharaoh discover that Sarah was Abraham’s wife and returned her to him.

As a result of the introduction of fear during this time, this opened the door to a mole being introduced into the family of Abraham during their visit to Egypt, called Hagar, which created a problem that we are still dealing with today. Stay tuned for my next blog on “Hagar, the Mole”.

3. Exchange of Destiny

Abraham almost exchanged the destiny God ordained for Him because of the presence of Lot in his life. Not only was fear introduced into his life but that opened the door to him being willing to give away Sarah, the carrier of the multiple nations, who was needed in fulfilling God’s promise to Abraham as being the father of many nations. All these were about to be lost because of fear that gained access because of a signal jammer in his life, Lot. It did not stop there but the presence of a signal jammer in Abraham’s life could have also cost him the promised land. When issues arose between the herdsmen of Abraham and Lot because the land was not able to sustain the water needs and grazing needs of the animals, as such, in order to settle the disputes, Abraham decided to give Lot the option to choose where he wants to live, whether Canaan or the Valley of the Jordan (Genesis 13). One question I ask myself is, what if Lot chose Canaan, even though God had promised it to Abraham? Abraham could have easily sold out his destiny because he carried Lot with him. It was until Lot got separated from Abraham that God began to speak again to Abraham (Genesis 13:14)

Don't exchange the destiny God has ordained for you, for your marriage, for your family because you are inhabiting a signal jammer in your life. It is not worth it!

When dealing with signal jammers, it takes an expert in that field to identify the presence of a signal jammer or use anti-jamming technologies in defusing its effect, and in the life of a believer, that person is called the Holy Spirit. He is able to detect such signal jammers and with His direction and guidance, assist us in neutralizing the effect of such jammers in our lives. He not only will identify the jammers in our lives but will provide practical ways of dealing with the issue, going all the way to the very root, if we allow Him. He is willing and available to get rid of these jammers but first, He has to do a scan, similar to an X-ray in identifying where the jammers are located, but like any scan, He cannot begin such a scan without your permission or consent. All you have to do in giving Him permission is by first surrendering your life unto Jesus Christ. If you will like to proceed with this, say this prayer with me:

“Lord Jesus Christ, I believe you are the Son of God and I believe You died for me on the cross of Calvary. I know I am a sinner and today, I come to You to forgive me for all my sins and to make me a brand-new creation. I accept You as my personal Lord and Saviour. Thank you, Lord, for forgiving me and making me born again, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Congratulations!!!! You are now born-again! This means you are part of the family of Jesus Christ. If you made this decision, I would love, love to hear from you today and provide resources for your new journey!
